The ministry team are mostly members of Foothills Christian Church in El Cajon, CA. located one block west of Hwy. 67 on Bradley Street. Our home group is the Focus Singles Group that meets on Wednesday night at the church at 7:00 p.m. That is where the idea for the name of the ministry came from.

My name is Steve Scott and I head up this ministry at Lindo Lake in Lakeside,CA. I have always had a burden for the homeless since I myself was homeless at one point in my life. I remember going to the rescue mission in downtown San Diego and singing Christian songs for a very much appreciated dinner every night if I could make it there.

I never forgot the humiliation that came with being homeless and once I was off the streets I swore I would never go back. Thank God, because of Christ's provisions I have been able to keep that promise. I remember that being homeless was very exausting since you could never just sleep when you felt the need because people and police were relentless to get you out of their neighborhoods. My whole day was spent looking for food or drugs to help me cope with my existance.

Because I was so dirty, when I tried to find work no one would hire me because I smelled so bad, so I was always panhandling or trying other ways to come up with money without selling myself. Alot of the homeless on the streets were normal people like the rest of us but something changed in their lives.

Some who had breakdowns found themselves in mental hospitals with health insurance, and when the insurance ran out they were kicked to the curb, others were veterans who didn't have the resources they needed to help them cope with stress and physical afflictions from the wars they fought in and others were what everyone think all homeless people are, drug addicts and alcoholics. While there are drug addicts and alcoholics, there  are also alot  that don't do any of those  things who if  given a chance  might be able to turn thier lives around with a little help. These are the homeless faces that we are interested in the most and although we lack the resources to help them we count it a joy just to serve them a great meal and pray with them. So would be suprised to find out that most of them are very polite and helpful.

We meet at the very southwest corner of the park on Saturday afternoons at 2:00 P.M. serving up Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, and other goodies that everyone seens to like.Feel free to come and help or your donations would be greatly appreciated to help us provide this service for the less fortunate.
