Deception of a Wounded Soul
We would like to think that we are intelligent beings who have the ability to reason things out, to put every situation that comes before our attention into our own controlled perspective, but, sometimes things don't go according to the way we plan them.
Then you throw spiritual beliefs into the mix and you come up with a hodgepodge of what they think is true or untrue. Once people are fixated on a belief, it's hard to even get past their preconceived notions so they become insulted by anyone who tries to undo what they have established as truth in our own minds.
We reason situations to fit in line with what we want to agree with, less than that, we judge that person as someone who is trying to reshape our thinking to a cult controlled mentality, or we accuse them as being close minded and dismiss whatever point they may be trying to make.
All of us, at one time or another, have tried to reason out what life is supposed to be about. We wonder what our purpose in life is, and why we are here. Some of us go through our whole lives not even knowing what the answers to those questions are, we feel as if something is missing.
Then when we turn to religion, we find that just as confusing as the life we are living now. If someone challenges our belief, we usually spurt out that we are members whatever the religion name, as if it's a defense against someone tries to invade our most holy belief.
We also act as if it is the only free pass to heaven, and by saying the magic denomination name, everyone is supposed to say, ooh, you are going to heaven. So because of that thinking we think that we can live any way we want to, and that everything will turn out beautiful in the end, therefore we don't have to fear God.
Who wants to serve a God you have to fear anyway ?
I do. Because, as much as I want to think that God understands the way that I am, because I am only human, as much as I want to believe that God would never condemn anyone to hell that says they believe in Him, I know that that is not what the bible says, so if the bible says that the opposite, and if I think that way, then I must be believing a lie.
What does the bible say ?
11 Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.12 Who is the man who desires life, And loves many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit. 14 Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. 15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry.16 The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. 17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. 18 The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. Psalms 11:11-15
28 And to man He said, 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, And to depart
from evil is understanding.
'”
Job 28:28
The reason why we don't feel that God will have punishment in our lives is because we really don't believe in Him, even though we say we do. We don't have the fear of God in our lives, because if we did, we would change those things in our lives that we know in our hearts are in opposition to Him.
So we try to justify our thinking with a few bible phrases, that we learned when we were just kids, or that we learned when we were walking with God for a short time. But since we have departed from the faith, we think we can quote these verses as an insurance policy against damnation, as if we quote these verses and a barrier of protection goes up around us as soon as we say them.
How long can we keep lying to ourselves ?
The scripture say:
Who is the man who desires life, And loves many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit. 14 Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. Psalms 11:12-14
When we are living the way that God wants us to, we will have prolonged days, because we are under the shadows of His wings, we are under God's personal protection, we are under His blessing in our lives.
God wants to bless us on a daily basis, He wants all things to work for good to those who fear Him, and are called by His name. He is not a respecter of persons are we are, He doesn't have a special group that are only called by His name, salvation and the forgiveness of sins are freely given to everyone who hears and believes.
God loves us all the same.
I can honestly say that I don't love everyone like God does, because I get frustrated, as much as I try to help change things in people's lives for the better, I get irritated when someone knows that things are better on someone else's green grass, but they stay in the dilapidated yard that they are in.
That doesn't mean that I don't love them, it just means that God has more patience than I do. I have an eager concern, because I have been to so many funerals that I hate to even attend them anymore. That doesn't mean I won't go, it just means that I hate to go, especially if I know where their should ended up for an eternity that is not desirable to what I wanted for them.
God wants to prolong our days, but there is a catch:
Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it.
What is the actual meaning of evil ?
Webster's say it is this:
1 a
: morally reprehensible, sinful
2 aarchaic inferior b. causing discomfort or repulsion, offensive evil odor >
c. disagreeable,
3 a
When we are living in opposition to God we are Morally reprehensible:
meaning we are to be held in blame for our actions and guilty and set aside for condemnation because of sin.
When we are living in opposition to God we have bad character:
we are offensive, we say obnoxious things, we act out in stupid ways that we know are harmful.
When we are living in opposition to God we are disagreeable:
we will argue about anything and everything, even though we don't have enough information to form a half decent argument.
When we are living in opposition to God we are marked by misfortune:
We think that the world is against us and that we were dealt the bad hand, we were just unlucky, born under a bad sign. We us a these cliché's to validate why we are what we are.
The truth is, we don't fear God. We don't believe there is a price to pay for the way we live our lives. We are full of pride and arrogant, we have all the answers, yet we are miserable because of our weaknesses, because of the wounds that we have resigned our lives to.
The scripture says:
The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry.16 The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
God hears the cry of those that serve Him, He sees them and the good that He wants them to have. But the wicked, those who are evil, he is against them.
You cannot say that you are part of God's family if your are living in sin and enjoying it. Some will say that they are living in sin, but they don't enjoy it, so they must be good.
You keep lying to yourself…
God delivers the righteous out of their troubles, He erases the name of the wicked from the earth.
God doesn't ever lower His standards of righteousness for any reason.
His word is good, He means what he says.
He doesn't conform to our will, we have to conform to His.
